Rugby World Cup quarter final a couple of hours ago: All Blacks 62, France 13
For the Americans, that’s comparable to the sort of score you’d see when an NFL team played a minor-league one. It’s the most anyone’s EVER scored against France.

There’s a French joke that can be made somewhere here.

I’ve seen NZ v. France once before, and the French lost then, too. Not like this, though.
Only
37 to 12

There’s been a lot of angst in the NZ press about how the ghost of 2007 was going to come back and haunt us, and how the ABs had lost the plot, as demonstrated by some middling results in the pool games.
Not any more. Now we’re going to hear lots of crowing about how they’re invincible, perfect, and the best team in the history of sports. Followed by us losing to Australia in the final.

What game are you talking about? That game never, ever happened, and we should never talk about it again.

Well, we have this thing where we kinda have the ability to turn it against New Zealand against all odds. After losing against the AB in the pool games in the 2011 world cup (badly, like 20 points apart...), we manage to stick it to England in the Quarter and Wales in Semi, to go against New Zealand in the final and making them shit bricks until the last minute when they won 8-7.
2007, well we eliminated New Zealand. Same thing in 1999 (then we lost the final to Australia because of a massive hangover after kicking NZ out in semi). And in 1987 we played the final against them too. Also, New Zealand hasn’t lost at the Eden Park since 1994, when we beat them. Look the “Try from the end of the world”, and “the try of the century”, if you want to know what kind of stupid shit we managed to do and win with.
Basically, when we play against New Zealand, we are ALWAYS the outsider, but when we’re not playing test matches (which we routinely get crushed in) but the World Cup, we manage to upset them.
Luck did not kick in today...
Now that this was said, let’s not talk about this game ever again !
